Unpredictable UAE Weather: Rain, Fog, and Humidity

Variable Weather in the UAE: Rain, Humidity, and Fog Risk in Some Areas
The weather in the United Arab Emirates continues to present an unpredictable pattern, and the long Eid Al Adha weekend is no exception. The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has once again forecasted rain, dense fog, and high humidity, predominantly affecting the eastern and northern regions. Sunday's forecast indicated that convective clouds might develop in several areas, potentially bringing precipitation. Authorities issued a yellow warning for rain and a red alert for fog that could significantly reduce visibility.
Rain Clouds and Alerts
Meteorologists suggest that rain-bringing clouds might form during the day, particularly in mountainous and coastal areas. The NCM issued a red alert on Sunday morning warning of significantly reduced horizontal visibility, especially in the inner and coastal regions until 8 a.m. Drivers have been advised to exercise heightened caution, as fog can suddenly decrease visibility, posing a risk of accidents.
Gradual Warming and Humid Evenings
From Sunday, temperatures are expected to rise gradually, accompanied by high humidity during the night and into Monday morning. Fog or light mist may develop in inland and coastal areas due to this, presenting further challenges for transportation.
Wind and Sea Conditions
Winds will blow from southeast and northeast directions, generally mild to moderate, but may become gusty in places, reaching speeds of up to 40 km/h. Sea conditions in the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea will mostly remain calm, possibly being only slightly choppy.
Temperature Forecast by City:
Abu Dhabi: maximum 39°C, minimum 28°C
Dubai: maximum 38°C, minimum 27°C
Sharjah: maximum 38°C, minimum 27°C
What to Consider?
During travel: Check current visibility conditions before departure and drive cautiously.
Outdoor activities: If there are warnings for rain or fog, it may be wise to seek alternative indoor activities.
Health preservation: Sudden changes in temperature, humidity, and wind can especially affect the elderly and those with respiratory issues.
Summary
The current weather situation reminds us of how diverse and rapidly changing the climate can be in the UAE, even during summer. While the heat continues to be predominant, rain, fog, and humid nights may offer some relief but also call for caution.
