UAE Fuel Prices: August 2025 Update

UAE Fuel Prices for August 2025: Slight Decrease in Petrol, Increase in Diesel
On July 31, 2025, the United Arab Emirates announced the fuel prices for August, which align with global oil prices as part of the country's monthly practice. Based on the prices effective from August 1, a slight decrease can be observed in petrol rates, while diesel shows a significant increase.
Fuel Prices for August
Super 98 Petrol: 2.69 dirhams/liter (July: 2.70)
Special 95 Petrol: 2.57 dirhams/liter (July: 2.58)
E-Plus 91 Petrol: 2.50 dirhams/liter (July: 2.51)
Diesel: 2.78 dirhams/liter (July: 2.63)
Although petrol prices experienced a barely noticeable decrease — just 1 fil per liter — diesel prices rose by 15 fils, which could have a noticeable impact on transportation and logistics costs.
Why Are These Monthly Changes Important?
Fuel prices are a key determinant of inflation. Stable or slightly decreasing petrol prices help prevent transportation costs from rising, which ultimately results in stability for food and consumer goods prices. However, the increase in diesel prices requires increased attention as it primarily affects commercial freight and transportation companies.
Deregulated a Decade Ago
Exactly ten years ago, on August 1, 2015, the UAE government announced that fuel prices would align with global market trends, eliminating state regulation. Since this decision, prices have been announced monthly on the last day of the month, and the new prices always take effect from the first day of the following month.
In an International Comparison
The UAE continues to rank among the 25 countries with the lowest fuel prices in the world. A liter of petrol in the country averages 2.58 dirhams, which remains competitive amid rising global fuel prices.
What to Expect?
Future prices will continue to be influenced by the global oil market, geopolitical events, and demand-supply ratios. As transport and energy consumption intensify during the summer months, it is possible that further price adjustments will occur in September — either downwards or upwards.
