UAE Expands Golden Visa Eligibility

More Professions Now Eligible for UAE Golden Visa
As the United Arab Emirates continues to attract talents from around the world, the Golden Visa program, which grants a 10-year residency permit, has expanded with new professional categories. The goal is clear: to support the settlement of outstanding professionals who can contribute to the country's development in the long run.
The Golden Visa provides an opportunity for holders to freely live, work, and study in the UAE without an employer sponsor. Additionally, it offers benefits such as the ability to stay outside the country for more than six months while retaining the validity of the visa. Previously targeted groups — investors, students, volunteers, or health sector heroes — now see seven new professional groups included among the eligible.
Educators and Teachers
By the end of 2024, Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah introduced the Golden Visa option for outstanding educators. The recognition aims to support teachers who contribute to improving education quality. Eligibility requires at least three years of local work experience, the appropriate qualifications, and demonstrable professional impact.
Nurses
Without health, life is incomplete — Dubai acknowledges this by offering the Golden Visa option to nurses who have served for over 15 years. The ceremonial announcement was linked to International Nurses Day.
Luxury Yacht Owners and Marine Industry Players
The yacht industry gained attention at the end of 2024 when Abu Dhabi launched the 'Golden Quay' initiative. Privately owned ships exceeding 40 meters offer their owners eligibility for the visa. Additionally, senior executives and investors in the maritime industry can apply.
eSports and Video Game Professionals
Professionals working in the video game industry — whether they are professional players, developers, or content creators — can now obtain a Golden Visa through Dubai's cultural and arts visa program. Applicants must be at least 25 years old and have proven industry experience.
Religious Leaders and Scholars
In April 2024, it was announced that religious leaders, imams, preachers, muezzins, and religious scholars in Dubai are eligible for the Golden Visa if they have served the community for at least 20 years. The recognition is part of appreciating religious figures, especially as holidays approach.
Digital Content Creators and Influencers
At the beginning of 2025, Dubai officially announced that creative professionals — such as influencers, podcasters, digital content creators, and visual artists — can apply for the 10-year residence permit. Through the Creator HQ incubation center, the program aims to support global outreach and boost the local creative industry.
Environmentalists – Blue Visa
Although the name differs, the Blue Visa also offers a 10-year residency opportunity to those who have made a significant impact in sustainability and environmental protection. This includes award-winning researchers, members of international organizations and NGOs, and renowned environmental activists.
Summary
The UAE's Golden Visa and Blue Visa programs are not just a recognition but concrete tools to retain international talent and strengthen the country's future. Whether in education, healthcare, the maritime industry, game development, religion, creative industry, or environmental protection, more opportunities are now available for long-term settlement in the United Arab Emirates.
