UAE Braces for Sweltering Hot Temperatures

UAE Weather: Temperatures May Hit 49°C, Clouds Possible
The weather in the United Arab Emirates once again demonstrates how quickly it can shift between pleasant morning hours and extremely hot afternoons. Meteorological forecasts indicate that temperatures in several regions of the country may climb to as high as 49 degrees Celsius, with low cloud cover appearing along the eastern coast during the morning hours. Such weather conditions highlight that the UAE's summer period involves not just dry heat but also a complex combination of humidity, marine influences, and air currents.
According to the National Meteorological Center, clear or slightly cloudy weather is expected on Thursday. In the morning, low clouds may form over the country's eastern coastline, mainly due to the proximity of the sea and higher humidity. Although these clouds do not necessarily bring precipitation, they play a significant role in the development of the morning heat perception.
Desert Heat Turns Up Another Notch
As the summer months approach in the UAE, daytime highs exceeding 45°C are becoming more frequent. This season has already sent a strong warning: in certain interior areas, temperatures could reach 49°C. This is the category where asphalt temperatures can rise well above 60°C, and just a few minutes of direct sunlight can become extremely taxing.
In Abu Dhabi, the daytime high temperature is expected to reach 43°C, while in Dubai, the maximum is expected to be around 40°C. These values may seem typical at first glance to those living in the Gulf region, but the increase in humidity could make the actual heat sensation much higher.
The dawn and early morning period may offer somewhat milder conditions. In the Abu Dhabi area, the air could cool down to as low as 27°C, while in Dubai, a minimum of around 28°C is expected. In the country's interior regions, the morning could be even cooler, with temperatures dropping as low as 22°C.
Humidity Could Slow Down Daily Routines
One of the most important factors in the UAE's weather is not just the temperature itself but the level of humidity. According to meteorological data, high humidity levels may develop in several coastal areas by Friday morning, significantly deteriorating the sense of comfort.
In the Abu Dhabi region, humidity could range from 15% to 70%, while in Dubai, values between 25% and 65% are expected. This can be particularly challenging in the dawn and morning hours when the air feels "heavy," creating a stifling sensation even at more moderate temperatures.
Due to the high humidity, the human body's heat loss process slows down, making the weather feel much hotter than the thermometer indicates. As a result, residents of the UAE often schedule outdoor activities, sports, or long walks for the late evening hours.
Low Cloud Cover Can Offer Unique Sights
The low cloud cover appearing over the eastern coastline is one of the most intriguing meteorological phenomena during the UAE's summer period. These clouds mainly form in the morning when moister air masses from the sea encounter the rapidly warming air of the land.
Such cloud cover often creates a striking contrast with the desert backdrop. In some parts of the country, the morning sky can almost entirely differ from the classic, dazzlingly clear image that many associate with the Emirates.
Though the clouds remain only for a short time, they can temporarily mitigate the sun's intensity and slightly alleviate the temperature rise in the early hours. As the morning progresses, however, full sunlight once again takes over in most places.
Wind Movements Could Offer Relief But Carry Sand
Meteorological forecasts predict mild to moderate winds coming from the southwest and northwest, with speeds ranging between 10 and 20 kilometers per hour, occasionally reaching 30 kilometers per hour.
While the wind can bring temporary relief from the heat, in desert areas, it often carries fine dust and sand. This can be particularly bothersome for car travel, as visibility occasionally decreases, while vehicles' external surfaces can quickly become coated in a layer of sand.
For UAE residents, regular car cleaning has almost become an everyday norm during the summer season, as wind-borne dust can form a thick layer on vehicles in a short period.
The Sea Could Remain Calm Until The Weekend
According to marine forecasts, slight waves are expected in the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman. This could be good news for those planning a seaside retreat towards the weekend.
Despite the summer heat, UAE beaches remain extremely popular, especially in the evening hours when the air cools down somewhat. However, even then, proper hydration and sun protection are important, as UV radiation levels can be extremely high.
During this part of the year, sea water temperatures also rise significantly, making the sea often feel more tepid than refreshing. Nevertheless, coastal areas continue to be one of the most favored escapes from urban heat.
Summer's True Face Begins to Show
The current forecast clearly indicates that UAE weather is gradually entering its hottest phase. The nearly 50°C maximums, high humidity, and morning swelter all point to even more intense heat in the coming weeks.
For the residents of Dubai and Abu Dhabi, this period also means adaptation. Timing outdoor activities, appropriate clothing, constant hydration, and using air-conditioned spaces are now part of the daily routine rather than questions of comfort.
The UAE, however, is renowned for its infrastructure being well-prepared for extreme summer weather. Modern buildings, air-conditioned public spaces, and an advanced transportation system all aim to ensure that despite the near-record temperatures, everyday life remains uninterrupted.
