UAE Announces 2025 Eid Al Adha Holiday

Four-Day Eid Al Adha Holiday for the Private Sector in 2025
Once again, the residents of the UAE will observe Eid Al Adha, one of the most significant religious holidays, symbolizing human sacrifice and faith. To commemorate the occasion, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has announced a four-day official holiday for private sector employees in June.
According to the official announcement, the holidays will commence on Thursday, June 5, on the 9th of Dhul Hijjah and will end on Sunday, June 8, which is the 12th of Dhul Hijjah in the year 1446 of the Islamic calendar. Employees will resume work on Monday, June 9. This period includes Arafah Day and Eid Al Adha celebrations, providing a total of four days off for private sector workers when combined with the weekend.
What does a unified holiday policy mean?
In recent years, the UAE adopted a unified holiday policy for employees in both the public and private sectors, ensuring all workers have equal opportunities for rest throughout the year. This not only helps improve the balance between work and personal life but also adds flexibility to the economy, allowing companies and organizations to better plan for long weekends and holiday shutdowns.
What is the significance of Eid Al Adha?
Eid Al Adha, or the Feast of Sacrifice, is one of the major events in the Islamic world. On this day, believers commemorate the obedience of Prophet Ibrahim, who was willing to sacrifice his son at God's command. Key elements of the celebration include festive prayers, charitable donations, and animal sacrifice, with the meat divided into three parts: one for the family, one for friends, and one for those in need.
What can employees do during the four days?
The long weekend is an ideal opportunity for family gatherings, travel, or spiritual reflection. Many take this time to travel to neighboring countries, stay at wellness hotels, or simply relax in the city. Numerous hotels, restaurants, and shopping centers in Dubai prepare special holiday offers, allowing both residents and visitors to enjoy the period.
When does work resume?
According to the official statement, work will resume on Monday, June 9. It is advisable to plan the long weekend in advance, especially when scheduling travels or major family gatherings.
Eid Al Adha reminds us of the importance of sacrifice, community cohesion, and supporting those in need. During the holiday break, UAE residents not only have the opportunity to rest but also to reflect on how they can bring positive changes to the lives of others.
