Speedy New Ferries Connect Dalma Island

New Ferries to Dalma Island - Faster and More Comfortable Sea Travel Between Abu Dhabi and the Island
The advancement of sea transportation has reached another milestone in the western part of the UAE: two new, modern ferries have been launched between Dalma Island and Jebel Dhanna, significantly reducing travel time and enhancing the travel experience. The new vessels not only provide faster connections but also contribute to the economic and tourism development of the region.
Two New Ferries, Two Daily Round Trips
The two new ferries, the Dalma and the Al Dhanna, each have a capacity for 193 passengers and 25 vehicles. The journey from Jebel Dhanna to Dalma Island takes just 40 minutes, providing significant time savings compared to previous options. Currently, there are two daily round trips, making it easy for locals and tourists to reach the island.
Comfort and Safety on Board
The ferries are designed to be safe, comfortable, and accessible. They are equipped with modern safety devices, spacious seating, and two internal lifts, which make all levels easily accessible for passengers with reduced mobility and older passengers. This attention to detail reflects the UAE's inclusive transportation policy.
Dalma Island: Developments and Tourism Investments
The transportation infrastructure is not the only area of development on the island. The development of the Dalma Tourist Resort has also begun, which will be the island's first tourist resort. The new resort complex reflects both authentic heritage and modern comfort: 20 specially designed chalets, traditional tent camps, restaurants, leisure facilities, and water sports will await visitors.
Simultaneously, several important projects are in progress on the island:
Rock protection project on the northeastern coastline near the runway of the local airport
Mountain biking track to support eco-friendly tourism
New industrial area for economic diversification
Infrastructure rehabilitation for residential area development
Museum Preserving and Showcasing the Past
The Dalma Museum has also been revitalized: the Mohammed bin Jassim Al Muraikhi House has undergone a complete renovation and is now operating as a museum. The institution showcases the maritime heritage of the region: pearl diving tools, ceramics, and even whale bones discovered nearby in the 1990s can be viewed.
Summary
The commissioning of the new ferries and the comprehensive developments taking place on Dalma Island collectively serve a clear goal: to strengthen the accessibility of Abu Dhabi's peripheral areas and develop them sustainably. Dalma Island is not only becoming more accessible but also increasingly attractive for both tourists and locals.
