Sharjah's Iconic Mall Reborn for 2026

Sharjah's Iconic Mall Reborn: Mark & Save Mall Opens 2026
In the heart of Sharjah city, along the bustling Etihad Road (E11), the well-known Safeer Mall has reached a new chapter after a long time. Originally opened in 2005, the shopping center is now undergoing significant renovations and will be welcoming visitors under a new name, Mark & Save Mall, from 2026.
End of an Era, Beginning of a New One
For 19 years, the mall has served the city's residents, but in January, the Western International Group officially took over operations from the former Safeer Group. The complete transformation is expected to take approximately 18 months, during which the mall will be fully rejuvenated to meet today's expectations and governmental regulations.
The new name – Mark & Save Mall – signifies not only a rebranding but a comprehensive transformation where interior spaces, exterior facades, and infrastructure will be fully renewed. The project will be carried out through extensive refurbishment rather than complete demolition. The management aims to transform it into a modern, experience-driven shopping destination that appeals to all age groups.
Temporary Closure and Tenant Support
Although nine stores remain operational in the mall, the current phase of the project requires the complete evacuation of the building. The company stressed that it is cooperating with existing tenants, adhering to all legal procedures, and providing support during the interim period. The renovations need to be completed safely and in compliance with regulations.
The Future: Experience, Technology, and Family Programs
Mark & Save Mall will not just be a new shopping site on Sharjah’s map, but it will also feature one of the largest indoor family play areas, numerous dining options, and a fully equipped gym. One of the main attractions of the center will be a hypermarket, making everyday shopping easier for visitors.
Part of the concept involves redesigning the interior layout to ensure that flow directions, space usage, and the shopping experience align with modern standards. The focus will be on experiential shopping and creating a family-friendly environment.
Economic Impact: Hundreds of New Jobs
A project of this magnitude will not only positively affect shoppers but also impact the job market. During renovation work and after reopening, hundreds of new jobs will be created in various fields, including retail, hospitality, entertainment, logistics, and facility management.
The investment amount exceeds one billion dirhams, reflecting Western International Group’s commitment to Sharjah’s economic growth. The transformation will positively influence not only the shopping experience but the community's daily life as well.
Strategic Location
The mall’s location also plays a key role in its success: it is situated along Etihad Road, the main thoroughfare between Dubai and Sharjah, with more than 100,000 vehicles passing by daily. This attracts not only local residents but also visitors from neighboring cities.
Summary
The opening of the Mark & Save Mall heralds a new era in Sharjah’s retail and entertainment industry. The revamped center’s modern, experience-driven design and economic stimulus impact make it a worthy successor to the Safeer Mall legacy. The new shopping center aims to be more than just a shopping venue, but a community space where families, friends, and visitors will enjoy their time—and where the future of shopping starts now.
