Sharjah's Breathtaking New Mountain Road Unveiled

Sharjah Gets New Mountain Route to Khorfakkan's Highest Peak
In the United Arab Emirates, there is an increasing emphasis on developments that are not only important from a transportation perspective but also serve as tourist attractions. Sharjah's new project is a perfect example of this direction: the newly announced mountain road will offer a unique natural experience to travelers while connecting the scattered villages in the Khorfakkan region.
Unique Route at 1,100 Meters Above Sea Level
The plan is for the new road to begin at the Al Ghuzair tunnel and lead all the way to Khorfakkan's highest peak, which is located at an altitude of 1,100 meters above sea level. This is not just an infrastructural development, but also a new kind of tourist experience: along the winding mountain road, trees, plantations, streams, and aesthetically designed residential areas will be located.
The special climate also increases the road's appeal. The area offers mild and cool weather in winter, making it an especially attractive destination for visitors coming from the hot desert cities like Dubai or Abu Dhabi.
Touristic Experience in Driving
The current highway route will transform into an enjoyable, scenic tourist road, which is not just about the destination but offers an experience even on the journey. The road will serve several villages, thereby enhancing the local communities' accessibility and economic opportunities.
Such developments are also key in decentralizing tourism. Rather than focusing solely on coastal resorts or urban attractions, the proximity of nature and the beauty of the inland areas can also come to the forefront.
Developments in Jabal Deem Area
As part of the project, residents of nearby Kalba won't miss out on the developments. Plans include the construction of resting areas, farms, and playgrounds in the Jabal Deem area, expected to open by March 2026. These elements provide new recreational opportunities not only for tourists but for local residents as well.
New Identity for the Region
With the new mountain road and associated facilities, the Khorfakkan region can position itself as a new, nature-focused tourist destination. The project is expected to contribute to the economic development of Sharjah's eastern areas while attracting visitors in an environmentally friendly manner.
As is customary in the UAE, the vision behind the project focuses not only on infrastructure development but also on serving natural values and community well-being. The development is another step in Sharjah's long-term strategy to balance modernization with respect for nature.
