The Emirate of Sharjah is elevating fire safety to a new level by employing artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced technologies to prevent disasters before they occur. The emirate aims to make buildings safer and more resilient to such threats, thereby protecting the population and infrastructure.

Research is being conducted at the American University of Sharjah (AUS), where local and international educators and state actors collaborate on technological solutions. The main goal is to use AI to predict the risk of fire incidents and intervene before they happen.

Concrete Steps: Fireproof Facade Replacement

A project, launched in 2023 with a total budget of 100 million dirhams, aims to replace the facades of residential and commercial buildings with fire-resistant materials. So far, five buildings have been made 'fireproof' in this way, with the final goal being the protection of 40 buildings.
