Sharjah Launches Fire Safety Campaign

Sharjah Fire Safety Checks Gear Up for Scorching Summer
As temperatures in the UAE surpass 50°C, the authorities in Sharjah have launched a large-scale fire safety campaign to reduce the risk of fire incidents and protect the safety of residents and properties. The Sharjah Civil Defence Authority, Saned Facility Management, and the Sharjah Prevention and Safety Authority have started comprehensive inspections of residential and industrial facilities, focusing particularly on timely warning systems.
The Aman system plays a central role in this campaign. This technology connects building fire alarm systems with the Civil Defence and Saned's operational center, providing precise data and real-time alerts. Based on this data, authorities can quickly detect malfunctions, significantly reducing response time during fire incidents, thus minimizing the risk of personal injuries and material damage.
Several serious fire incidents have already occurred this year in Sharjah: at the end of May, a petrochemical and fiberglass plant caught fire, while in April, a vegetable and fruit warehouse and a 52-story tower block went up in flames, the latter tragically resulting in five fatalities. These events highlighted the importance of regular building maintenance and adherence to fire safety regulations.
In the first phase of the campaign, authorities will contact building owners and operators to emphasize the importance of using maintenance companies approved by Civil Defence. The aim is not just to enforce rules but to foster an effective, preventive approach that ensures the long-term safety of buildings and residents.
The head of Saned Facility Management, Eng. Hamid Al Zarouni, emphasized that the Aman system is a cornerstone of intelligent protection in Sharjah. He pointed out that rapid intervention and early fault detection are crucial for effective life and property protection. He urged property owners, developers, and operating companies to continuously conduct preventive maintenance with approved service providers.
This campaign addresses the current summer challenges but also conveys a long-term message: fire safety is not a one-time task but requires ongoing attention and cooperation from all parties involved. With this move, Sharjah sets an example for other emirates, demonstrating how technology and responsible operation go hand in hand in creating safety.
