Road Safety Film Competition with Cash Prizes

Short Film Contest Promotes Road Safety – Create a Film and Win a Cash Prize!
Understanding the causes of road accidents and preventing them can be lifesaving. This is precisely why Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) launched the Road Safety Film Festival contest. The aim of the 2025 submission is for university and postgraduate students to draw attention to traffic violations and their dangers through short films, thereby contributing to the reduction of accidents.
Who can apply?
The competition is open to university students aged 18 to 35, either individually or in teams of up to three members. The submissions must be original creations entirely made by the students – from conception to execution. Every submitted film must contribute to raising awareness of road safety and reflect on real issues.
Submissions open on April 7, 2025, and close on July 14. Entries can be made through the RTA's official website, where detailed participation conditions, evaluation criteria, and formal requirements are available.
What topics can be covered?
The contest defines three essential categories, chosen based on recent accident statistics:
1. The Dangers of Sudden Lane Changes
One of the most common and dangerous driving errors, which can lead to fatal accidents.
2. The Risks of Distraction While Driving
Using mobile phones, eating, applying makeup – these are behaviors that can cause tragedy within seconds.
3. Unsafe Use of Bicycles and Electric Scooters
With the spread of micromobility devices, related violations, and accidents are increasing. The goal is to raise awareness and promote correct behavior.
What rewards await the best entries?
Winners in each category will receive certificates of recognition and a cash prize. The aim of the awards is to motivate young people to create creatively and consciously, and to directly contribute to the development of traffic culture in Dubai.
