Pakistani Community in UAE Joins for Relief

Pakistani Community in UAE Unites for Flood Victims
The monsoon rains of 2025 once again brought devastating floods to several provinces in Pakistan, making life difficult for hundreds of thousands overnight. As a result of the catastrophe, more than 200,000 people had to be evacuated along three rivers, and hundreds lost their lives. The severity of the damage affected infrastructure, residential buildings, agricultural areas, and businesses not just in Pakistan, but indirectly also for Pakistani communities living abroad.
The over one million-strong Pakistani community in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) now bears a particularly great responsibility: they must respond to the natural disaster that has struck their homeland—and do so quickly, in an organized and effective manner. Pakistanis living in the UAE have been called upon to support flood victims in every possible way, whether through monetary donations, volunteer work, or community initiatives.
More than Just Solidarity – Responsibility and Action
The initiative is not just a theoretical request or message to the diaspora, but an urgent call behind which lie real human tragedies and collapsing lives. The floods most severely affected the areas of Buner, Swat, Bajaur, Shangla, Mansehra, as well as Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, where most people already have limited resources. A significant number of those affected have lost their homes, agricultural lands, and are currently living without basic necessities—clean water, food, medical care.
Some living in the UAE are personally affected: they have not only lost relatives or friends but have also suffered damage to business and real estate investments in Pakistan. While the financial loss is significant, the protection of human life and dignity stands above all else.
State and Community Response
UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan also expressed condolences to Pakistani leaders over the tragic losses, further affirming the fraternal relationship between the two countries. Support, however, is not only coming from the state level: the Pakistani community living there is trying to respond to the situation with numerous non-profit initiatives and charity actions.
The Embassy of Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates has also taken an active role in the organization. In an appeal, the ambassador expressed deep sympathy and emphasized that now is the time for unity: “Solidarity must manifest not only in emotion but also in actions,” he said.
In this spirit, a decision was made to postpone the celebrations planned for Pakistan’s Independence Day in the UAE. This decision clearly indicates that the community now wishes to focus all its attention on those in trouble back home.
What Can the Pakistani Community in the UAE Do?
Donations are one of the fastest and most effective ways to help. Well-known charitable organizations such as the Pakistan Red Crescent or the Edhi Foundation have already launched fundraising campaigns, which can be safely joined from the UAE through online transfers.
In addition, many community centers, mosques, and associations are organizing food collections, and collections of used clothes and hygiene items. Volunteers can also take part in logistical support directed to flood-stricken areas, such as loading, packing, or transporting.
Many are helping by sharing information: online platforms, social media, and messaging apps provide excellent tools for information campaigns. This is particularly important as people often do not know where and how they can help.
The Power of Unity
The United Arab Emirates is home to many nationalities, and the Pakistani community living there has long been an active and committed part of society. The current crisis gives an opportunity for the community’s strength to reveal itself once more—not just in words, but in actions.
The unity and solidarity they show in these difficult times go beyond the current disaster: it can empower and set an example for other diaspora communities as well. During such a challenging period, the values of social responsibility and humanity come to the forefront.
Closing Thoughts
The floods affecting Pakistan remind us of how fragile life can be and how vulnerable we can be to the forces of nature. But they also highlight the strength inherent in human cohesion, community support, and selflessness. Pakistanis living in the UAE now have a unique opportunity to act for the benefit of their homeland—and they have already taken the first steps.
Whoever can, contribute to the aid—whether financially, with time, or through the power of a kind word. For every small act counts.
