Pakistan Medical Centre Expansion Boosts Free Healthcare

The Pakistan Association Dubai (PAD) and the Pakistan Medical Centre (PMC) are about to launch one of the biggest developments in their history, significantly expanding the center's capacity and range of services. The investment is valued at 45 million dirhams, and the plans include tripling the size and services of the PMC. As part of the two-year development, a new diagnostic and radiology department, dialysis center, advanced physiotherapy unit, and additional specialized medical services will be housed in the new 89,000 square foot building wing. An indoor sports facility and underground parking will also be constructed.
Currently, the PMC serves an average of 4,500–5,000 patients per month, operating at full capacity. With the new expansion, medical treatment can be provided for more than 15,000 people annually either for free or at heavily discounted rates. Since its opening in October 2020, the center has treated over 140,000 patients from more than a hundred different nationalities. Although the center's name is associated with the Pakistani community, its services are widely used by citizens from other countries as well, including residents of Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, India, the Philippines, African countries, and UAE nationals.
The project was laid down in 2017, with construction beginning in 2018, and the center opened its doors in 2020. The initiative aims to provide high-quality yet affordable healthcare, either free or for a nominal fee. For example, a complete check-up can be availed of for just 100 dirhams, regardless of the patient's nationality or religion.
The economic contribution of the Pakistani community in the UAE is significant: in the most recent financial year, the over 1.7 million strong Pakistani community sent home remittances worth 7.9 billion dollars, marking an increase of over 20% compared to the previous year.
The expansion of the PMC is not only important for the Pakistani community but for the entire UAE, as it ensures wider access to affordable healthcare and further strengthens Dubai’s role as a leading healthcare hub in the region.
