Jet Ski Rescues Highlight Maritime Safety

Abu Dhabi: Four Rescued from Stranded Jet Skis
In the United Arab Emirates, the issue of maritime safety has once again come to the forefront after four people had to be rescued off the coast of Abu Dhabi when their jet skis ran aground in shallow water. The rescue operation was carried out jointly by the National Search and Rescue Center and the National Guard Coast Guard.
What Exactly Happened?
The accident occurred when the jet skis became stranded in a shallow coastal area, meaning they reached the sea floor and became immobile. Such situations can not only damage the vehicles but also pose serious dangers to the passengers' physical safety, especially if the water currents or weather conditions are unfavorable.
Fortunately, authorities responded quickly after the alert: the injured individuals were safely transported to the nearest hospital for further examination and care.
Authorities' Warning
In light of the events, the command of the National Guard reiterated the importance of strictly adhering to maritime safety protocols for everyone who ventures out to sea. It is of paramount importance that:
The technical condition of boats and jet skis be checked regularly,
The vehicles have appropriate safety equipment, such as life jackets and first aid kits,
Passengers be aware of the water depths and weather conditions in the area,
In case of emergency, call the maritime emergency number immediately: 996.
What Can We Do as Prevention?
During the summer season, many choose jet skiing as a form of relaxation, but this can only remain a pleasant experience if paired with proper preparation and attention. It is crucial for every watercraft owner to:
Perform regular maintenance,
Use officially approved equipment,
Stick to designated routes,
Avoid operating the vehicle too close to the shore's shallow waters or coral reefs.
Summary
The fortunate outcome of this rescue is not guaranteed in every situation. Therefore, the prevention of maritime accidents is a shared responsibility: through regulations and rescue infrastructure from the authorities and caution and awareness from the public.
