Free Parking During Eid Al Adha

Abu Dhabi Announces Free Parking and Toll-Free Roads for Eid Al Adha
During the Eid Al Adha festive period, Abu Dhabi is again preparing significant easements for residents and travelers. The emirate authorities have detailed the holiday traffic plan, which includes not only free parking and the abolition of certain tolls but also information on public transport, the opening hours of parks, and various customer service offices. The goal of these measures is to make transportation simpler and more convenient throughout Abu Dhabi during the festive period.
In the United Arab Emirates, Eid Al Adha is always considered a peak period, when thousands of families set off, shopping centers fill up, beaches and parks see a surge in visitors, while intercity traffic significantly increases. Accordingly, every year Abu Dhabi introduces a special transportation and service schedule to manage the increased traffic.
Six Days of Free Parking in Abu Dhabi
One of the most important announcements was that public parking throughout Abu Dhabi will be free during the Eid Al Adha holiday. The free period kicks off on Monday, May 25th, and concludes on Friday, May 29th. Normal parking fees resume on Saturday, May 30th.
This decision is particularly favorable for motorists, as parking is already free in Abu Dhabi on Sundays. This means a total of six consecutive days of free parking at most public spaces in the emirate during the holiday period.
However, the regulation does not apply to multi-story parking garages. Regular tariffs remain in effect in these facilities, with payment mandatory 24/7 during the holiday. Abu Dhabi's leadership aims to ensure sufficient parking spaces remain available in high-traffic urban centers.
In recent years, Abu Dhabi has progressively developed its intelligent parking system, which now operates almost entirely on a digital basis. The integration of payment systems and online administration allows motorists to handle parking matters more quickly and easily.
Free Darb Tolls During the Holiday Period
The travel easements don't stop at parking. Abu Dhabi also announced that several Darb toll gates will be free-to-use during the Eid Al Adha celebration.
The toll exemption applies to the following gates:
Sas Al Nakhl, Al Maqta, Rabdan, Al Saadiyat
Motorists can cross these checkpoints free of charge throughout the entire holiday.
However, two gates are exceptions:
Al Qurm, Ghantoot
These will continue to operate 24/7, with a fee of 4 dirhams per crossing.
This measure is especially important for those traveling between Abu Dhabi and Dubai during the holiday period, or those planning longer trips due to family visits or short excursions.
The Darb system has become a central element of Abu Dhabi's intelligent transportation strategy in recent years. Digital toll payment aims to optimize traffic and reduce peak-time congestion. However, during festive periods, easements are regularly applied to make commuting more convenient for residents.
Digital Services Remain Fully Operational
Despite holiday shutdowns, Abu Dhabi's digital systems will operate at full capacity. Authorities have confirmed that official online platforms will remain available 24/7.
Residents can continue to use:
the Darb app, official websites, as well as the TAMM platform.
This is particularly important for those who wish to handle parking matters, vehicle-related transactions, or transport services online during the holidays.
The United Arab Emirates is placing increasing emphasis on the digitization of state services. In this regard, Abu Dhabi is considered one of the most advanced emirates, where most matters can already be handled entirely online.
Parks Prepare with Extended Opening Hours
During the Eid Al Adha period, public parks and leisure facilities will also welcome visitors with extended opening hours.
In the city of Abu Dhabi, parks will open from 8 AM to midnight.
In the Al Ain region, parks will open as early as 7 AM and remain open until midnight. For women's and children's parks, the opening hours will be from 4 PM to midnight.
In the Al Dhafra region, family and women's parks, as well as public playgrounds, will operate from 10 AM to 1 AM.
During the festive period, parks are traditionally extremely popular in the Emirates. Families often spend the evening hours here, picnicking or participating in children's programs. Due to the summer heat, many prefer to visit these locations during the evening and nighttime hours.
Buses Operate on Holiday Schedule
The public transportation schedule will also alter during the holiday days. According to Abu Dhabi's transport authority, public bus routes will start operating from 7 AM on the first day of Eid.
Some highlighted routes will continue to operate as usual:
A1, A2, N2, A10, A40, K4
The Abu Dhabi Express service will operate daily from 6 AM to midnight.
The Abu Dhabi Link system will also operate every day, from 6 AM to 11 PM.
In recent years, Abu Dhabi has made significant developments in public transport infrastructure. Intelligent bus systems and application-based transport services are increasingly popular among residents and tourists as well.
Free Truck and Bus Parking in Musaffah Territory
During the holiday period, the truck and bus parking area in Musaffah will also be available free of charge, and it will operate 24/7.
The vehicle impound lot will also operate continuously throughout Eid.
Musaffah is one of Abu Dhabi's most important industrial and logistics centers, where significant freight traffic takes place. Ensuring the uninterrupted operation of transportation systems is particularly important during the holiday period.
Customer Service and Licensing Centers Closed
During the holiday period, several official customer services will temporarily close.
Q Mobility announced that Abu Dhabi and Al Ain customer centers will be closed during Eid.
Driver's license centers will also suspend operations between May 25th and May 31st. Reopening is expected on June 1st.
This affects:
Abu Dhabi's driver's licensing centers, as well as the main vehicle and licensing center in Al Ain city.
Authorities are asking residents to handle important matters before the holiday, or use online platforms.
Abu Dhabi Prepares for Holiday Rush
This year's Eid Al Adha period once again demonstrates how comprehensively Abu Dhabi prepares for increased traffic and residential needs. Free parking, toll exemptions, extended park hours, and expanded transport services all aim to make the holiday days more peaceful and smooth.
While travel between Dubai and Abu Dhabi greatly increases during the holiday period, such measures provide substantial help for both local residents and tourists.
