Etihad Halts Transit for Cancelled Flights

Etihad Won’t Accept Transit Passengers for Cancelled Flights - Middle East Aviation Under Transformation
The conflict between Israel and Iran has reached a new chapter that seriously affects not only the stability of the region but also the entire Middle Eastern air travel. Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, announced on Friday that it will not accept transit passengers for flights canceled due to the emerging war situation.
Cancellations and Restrictions
According to the announcement, passengers who intended to continue their journey to Tel Aviv or other conflict-affected destinations via Abu Dhabi will not be able to start their journey from their departure point. Etihad has canceled several flights on the Tel Aviv–Abu Dhabi route (EY595 / EY596, EY593 / EY594, EY597), and delays are also expected, such as for the EY590 flight departing from Amman.
The decision is not unique: Emirates and flydubai have also taken similar steps, considering the closed airspaces over Iran, Iraq, Jordan, and Syria. The Israeli attack, which targeted Iran’s nuclear, military, and missile technology facilities with about 200 aircraft, poses a significant risk to air travel in the region.
Rerouting and Safety Measures
Etihad is rerouting several of its flights according to the new flight paths to avoid closed airspace sections. The airline states that it continuously monitors airspace updates and the development of the security situation, working closely with authorities.
Passengers are advised to visit the airline’s official website or mobile app for the most up-to-date information before heading to the airport. Rescheduling, delays, or cancellations of flights may continue to occur in the coming days.
Passenger Support and Customer Service
The airline strives to assist affected passengers with alternative routes and rebooking options. The goal is to minimize travel inconveniences while prioritizing the safety of passengers and crew.
