Etihad Airways to Create 12,000 Jobs

Etihad Airways: Over 12,000 New Jobs in UAE Over Coming Years
Etihad Airways, the national airline based in Abu Dhabi, has unveiled ambitious expansion plans: by 2030, they aim to double the size of their fleet alongside their workforce. Currently employing around 12,000 people, they intend to recruit an additional 12,000 over the next five years – including pilots, cabin crew, engineers, and technicians.
Strategic Expansion and New Aircraft
In 2024, the company will take delivery of 22 new aircraft, with a similar schedule anticipated the following year. The fleet currently consists of 101 aircraft, expected to more than double by 2030. Concurrently, recruitment will accelerate: this year alone, they will hire 2,000 new employees, with plans to continue expanding at a similar pace in the coming years.
The recruitment focus remains on frontline workers, namely pilots, cabin crew, and technical staff. UAE citizens are also given special attention, with around 300 local residents, including 70 pilots, intended to be integrated annually into the team.
Technology in Workforce Selection
With an increase in applicants – for instance, over 30,000 applications for cabin crew positions – effective technological solutions are necessary. Etihad Airways already employs artificial intelligence (AI) to support HR processes. AI-based chatbots handle onboarding, payroll, and even birthday and anniversary greetings.
In the coming months, Etihad will introduce additional AI solutions: the conduct of video interviews, appointment scheduling, and candidate selection will all be managed by artificial intelligence. These systems are partly developed in-house and partly sourced from external technology partners.
Career Fairs and Recruitment Events
Etihad Airways' first career expo, 'Khutwaty 2025,' was held on Yas Island, attracting thousands of young UAE citizens. The event aimed to support Etihad's 'Journey 2030' vision and facilitate the integration of local workers into the aviation sector.
Closing Thoughts
Etihad Airways' dynamically growing role in the UAE economy and aviation industry not only creates new employment opportunities but also enhances recruitment efficiency and employee experience through the application of innovative technologies. The coming years symbolize a new era for Etihad in both fleet expansion and human resources.
