Etihad Airways: Record Passenger Numbers and New Routes in Q1 2025
The national airline of the United Arab Emirates, Etihad Airways, reported an outstanding performance in the first quarter: they transported a total of 5 million passengers in the first three months of 2025, indicating the airline's continuous growth and strengthening global position. In March alone, they welcomed 1.6 million guests onboard, marking a 14% increase compared to the same period last year.
Growth in All Areas
The airline's passenger load factor also improved, reaching 87% in the first quarter, which is a 1 percentage point increase compared to 2024. Simultaneously, the size of the operational fleet grew by 10%, enabling capacity expansion and the introduction of new routes.
Over the past 12 months, Etihad has transported nearly 20 million passengers worldwide, clearly reflecting the company's successful strategy and reliable operations. Passenger satisfaction indicators reached a historic high in March, further supporting the continuous improvement in service quality.
New Flights and Destinations in 2025
Last month, the airline announced two new routes and increased the frequency of several existing flights. Together, there are a total of 16 new destinations planned for 2025.
The expansions include a new direct flight to Peshawar, Pakistan, starting on September 29th. This is the fourth non-stop Etihad flight to Pakistan, following the previously introduced Karachi, Islamabad, and Lahore routes.
Additionally, the number of flights to Moscow-Sheremetyevo has increased, with Etihad currently operating three daily flights between Abu Dhabi and the Russian capital, offering 21 weekly flights on this route.
Opening Towards Asia and Africa
In November 2024, Etihad had already announced plans to launch ten new destinations in 2025, primarily in the Asian and Pacific regions. These flights will begin in July 2025, connecting Abu Dhabi with cities such as:
Atlanta (USA)
Taipei (Taiwan)
Medan (Indonesia)
Phnom Penh (Cambodia)
Krabi (Thailand)
Tunis (Tunisia)
Chiang Mai (Thailand)
Hong Kong (China)
Hanoi (Vietnam)
Algiers (Algeria)
Shaping the Future of Aviation
Etihad Airways' relentless growth is reflected not only in the introduction of new flights and increase in passenger numbers but also in the excellent service quality and passenger experience. With an increasing number of international connections, Abu Dhabi's position as a regional aviation hub continues to strengthen, while the airline becomes more competitive in the global market.
The data from 2025 so far clearly indicates that Etihad Airways is firmly on the path of growth and international expansion, opening up new possibilities for passengers worldwide.
