Eid Al Adha: Dubai Tolls and Parking Guide

Changing Salik Fees During Eid Al Adha in Dubai: What to Know About Tolls and Parking
During the Eid Al Adha celebrations, between June 5 and 8, 2025, the Salik toll system in Dubai will operate with a variable tariff system. The aim of this new dynamic pricing is to manage traffic more efficiently during the festive period when traffic load significantly increases on the city's main routes.
When and How Much is the Salik Toll During Eid?
The Salik system will function under the following bands on all four festive days:
Peak hours: Between 6:00 AM and 10:00 AM, and between 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM, the fee will be 6 dirhams per gate.
Off-peak hours: From 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and from 8:00 PM to 1:00 AM, the fee will be 4 dirhams.
Free time period: Every day between 1:00 AM and 6:00 AM there will be no toll fees.
This means that during the festival, drivers passing through any of the city's 10 Salik gates during morning or afternoon peak hours can expect higher tariffs, whereas nighttime travel will be toll-free.
It is important to note that the transport authority has previously clarified: the Salik system will not be suspended on holidays, meaning the automated tolls remain active, based on the predetermined variable pricing.
Parking During Eid Al Adha
The Dubai Road and Transport Authority (RTA) announced that public parking will be free from June 5 to 8, 2025. However, this does not apply to multi-story car parks, where fees will still be charged during the festival.
This practice is typical every year during the Eid Al Adha period, allowing residents and visitors to navigate and park more easily during festive events and family activities.
What About Abu Dhabi?
Abu Dhabi’s official toll and parking provider, Q Mobility, has yet to announce the precise operating schedule for Eid Al Adha, but based on past practices, it is likely that:
Mawaqif parking and Darb tolls will be free on Sundays and festive days.
Passing through Darb gates incurs charges only during peak hours (7–9 AM, 5–7 PM), but is free at other times, as well as on Sundays and festive days.
The Darb system covers four main bridges: Sheikh Zayed Bridge, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Bridge, Al Maqtaa Bridge, and Mussafah Bridge. Each crossing costs 4 dirhams during peak hours, but this does not apply to Eid holidays.
Plan Ahead
The dynamic Salik pricing aims to reduce traffic congestion during the busiest periods. Motorists may want to avoid peak times, particularly in the mornings and evenings when the 6 dirham tariff applies. Nighttime and morning periods could be more ideal for travel, not only due to lighter traffic but also lower fees.
Regarding parking, city residents and visitors should be aware that while surface parking is free during the festival, parking in multi-story buildings still incurs charges. This is especially noteworthy around shopping malls, promenades, and downtown areas.
