Easing Heat, Rising Fog: Emirates Weather Update

Cooler Weather, Fog Expected by Midweek – NCM Forecast Predicts Increased Humidity
Gradual Cooling and Rising Humidity
In the United Arab Emirates, the coming days are expected to bring more moderate, pleasant weather, while the chances of fog and mist increase during the nighttime and early morning hours, especially in coastal and inland regions. According to the country's meteorological center, the weather will generally remain clear or partly cloudy, but with a slight drop in temperature, while nighttime humidity will significantly rise.
This transitional period is a typical example of when the pleasant daytime warmth contrasts sharply with the climate's different face at dawn. While daytime warmth doesn't completely disappear, the combination of evening cooling and increasing humidity creates ideal conditions for fog formation. This phenomenon is not unusual for this time of the year but requires substantial attention for transportation.
Dubai and Abu Dhabi: Mild Days, Humid Mornings
In the Dubai area, daytime temperatures are expected to be around 29 °C, while nighttime lows may hover around 19 °C. In Abu Dhabi, a high of 28 °C and a low of 17 °C can be expected. These values remain pleasant, especially for those accustomed to the hot summer months.
In inland areas, such as around oasis cities, daytime temperatures can reach 30–32 °C, while nighttime humidity may approach 90%. This combination particularly favors the formation of early morning fog and mist. Visibility in some regions may significantly drop, especially before and shortly after sunrise.
High humidity affects not only transportation but also the general comfort level. Due to air saturation, ventilation can be more challenging despite the cooler nighttime temperatures, especially in coastal city areas.
Traffic Risks During Foggy Periods
Morning fog is one of the riskiest weather phenomena in the Emirates. The sudden decrease in visibility, due to highways, multi-lane roads, and high-speed traffic, can pose a significant threat. The meteorological forecast specifically warns motorists to drive with increased caution in the morning hours.
Fog often appears in patches, making driving conditions even more unpredictable. It's possible for one stretch of road to be completely clear, then suddenly hit dense fog a few kilometers later. Reducing speed, maintaining proper following distance, and using dipped headlights are essential under such conditions.
Moisture affects not only land transportation but also air and maritime traffic, especially in coastal regions.
Wind Direction Changes and Sea Conditions
In the coming days, winds will typically blow from the northwest and southwest at 10–20 km/h, occasionally strengthening to 35 km/h. By midweek, wind direction may shift from southeast to northeast, with gusts up to 40 km/h possible at sea.
In the Arabian Gulf region, sea conditions will initially remain mild to moderate but could strengthen by midweek, with rougher waves expected early Thursday. In contrast, the Oman Sea is expected to remain generally calmer, with mild waves.
For fishing, leisure, and marine tourism activities, this means more favorable conditions in the first half of the week, while increased caution is required later in the week due to strengthening winds and waves.
Gradual Warming, then Stabilization
While the weather is currently showing a milder side, temperatures may rise slightly on Tuesday before stabilizing in a more moderate range by Wednesday. This slow fluctuation exemplifies the transitional period's nature: there's no extreme cooling, nor does the heat return.
According to the meteorological forecast, humid nights may continue until early Thursday, meaning the chance of fog formation remains. Coastal and inland areas will remain the most affected.
Subtle Signs of Seasonal Change in the Emirates
These periods reflect the unique climatic characteristics of the United Arab Emirates. While many associate the country exclusively with heat, certain times of the year experience a particularly balanced, pleasant climate. The combination of daytime warmth and nighttime humidity creates a dynamic that requires increased adaptability.
For the residents of Dubai and surrounding regions, this period offers both relief and challenges. Outdoor activities can become more ideal during the day, while greater caution is needed during morning commutes.
Thus, the coming days signify not drastic change but rather a gradual transitional phase. The cooler days, humid nights, and sporadic fog together shape the country's weather outlook until midweek. Those who follow forecasts and adapt to changing conditions can safely and comfortably enjoy this more moderate period in the Emirates.
