Dubai's Pedestrian Pathway Revolution Unveiled
Dubai once again proves its forward-thinking ambition as the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announces the Dubai Walk master plan, aimed at building a modern pedestrian pathway network. According to the RTA, under the Dubai Walk master plan:
1. 3,300 km of new walkways will be built by 2040.
2. 2,300 km of existing pathways will be rehabilitated to meet modern standards.
3. Additionally, 900 km of pathways are planned for construction after 2040.
This large-scale project will create a pedestrian network totaling 6,500 km, covering 160 areas in Dubai. It represents significant progress in pedestrian transport and "soft mobility" (environmentally friendly modes of transport), aimed at reducing the city's environmental footprint.
