Dubai's Mall Revolutionizes Parking Experience

New Barrier-Free Parking System at Mall of the Emirates – What You Need to Know
From February 2025, visitors to the Mall of the Emirates (MoE) shopping center can experience an entirely new parking experience in Dubai. A ticketless and barrierless parking system has been launched, aiming to provide quicker, more convenient, and hassle-free entry and exit. The system was introduced in January at the Deira City Centre and now MoE visitors can also enjoy the benefits of this innovation.
How does the new parking system work?
The essence of the system is that drivers can enter and exit without barriers, without needing to stop at a gate, pull a ticket, or redeem it. The advanced camera system operated by Parkin automatically identifies the license plate and monitors the parking duration.
If someone exceeds the free 4-hour weekday grace period, they receive an SMS notification along with a payment link. The fee must be settled within three days, or else a penalty of 150 dirhams will be imposed.
Parking fees at MoE
0–4 hours: Free (on weekdays)
4–5 hours: 20 AED
5–6 hours: 40 AED
6–7 hours: 60 AED
7–8 hours: 100 AED
Over 8 hours: 150 AED
On weekends (Saturday and Sunday): Free
Overnight parking is prohibited – a daily penalty of 200 AED applies
How to avoid the fee?
Shoppers can enjoy free parking under certain conditions:
Proof of purchase worth at least 150 AED at the customer service desk
Presentation of a VOX Cinemas movie ticket for +2 extra hours
Visiting Ski Dubai also entitles a discount
Automatic fee exemption for valet parking
Special entitlements for PoD (Persons of Determination)
Is registration necessary?
No, no separate registration is required. The system functions automatically based on the license plates registered in the UAE. The payment notification is sent via SMS to the phone number registered to the vehicle. With rented or leased cars, the parking fee is sent to the registering company or owner.
How can you pay?
Via the link received in the SMS
Through the Parkin app
With a bank card, credit card, or Apple Pay
What happens if the license plate isn't recognized?
The accuracy of the Parkin camera system is 99.99%, but if an error occurs, no charge or penalty is imposed.
One important rule: drive-throughs are chargeable
If someone merely drives through the MoE parking lot, for example, to avoid Al Barsha area's traffic and reach the Sheikh Zayed Road faster, a 3 AED fee applies.
Data privacy and security
Data related to vehicles is securely stored and not shared with third parties. License plate data remains in the system until the official vehicle registration, and transaction records are archived for three years.
Conclusion
The new barrier-free parking system at the Mall of the Emirates represents a significant step towards digital and customer-friendly transportation infrastructure in Dubai. Automatic license plate recognition, SMS-based payment, various discounts, and transparent fee structures all ensure that visitors can park quickly, smoothly, and conveniently — without paper tickets or long lines.
