Dubai Updates Parking Fees for Key Areas

Changes in Parking Fees and Timings in Key Dubai Areas
From February 1, Dubai residents and visitors will encounter new parking fees and periods after Parkin PJSC, Dubai's largest paid public parking operator, announced the amendments. The new rules apply to the city's four prominent zones, specifically the F zone, which includes Al Sufouh 2, The Knowledge Village, Dubai Media City, and Dubai Internet City.
What Changes Will Be Implemented?
The most significant change is the increase in parking fees and the extension of the paid parking period. Previously, parking was chargeable from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, but under the new rules, payment is required from 8:00 AM until 10:00 PM. This is a considerable extension that will affect motorists in the evening hours.
New Parking Fees in the F Zone:
a, 30 minutes – 2 dirham
b, 1 hour – 4 dirham
c, 2 hours – 8 dirham
d, 3 hours – 12 dirham
e, 4 hours – 16 dirham
f, 5 hours – 20 dirham
g, 6 hours – 24 dirham
h, 7 hours – 28 dirham
i, 24 hours – 32 dirham
Previous fees:
a, 1 hour – 2 dirham
b, 2 hours – 5 dirham
c, 3 hours – 8 dirham
d, 4 hours – 11 dirham
The fee increase is substantial, especially for longer parking periods, which may encourage drivers to use parking spaces for shorter durations, thereby increasing turnover.
Variable Parking Fee Policy from 2025
The current amendments anticipate the introduction of the Variable Parking Fee Policy planned for the end of March 2025. As part of this:
a, Premium parking spaces will cost 6 dirham/hour during peak times (8:00 AM–10:00 AM and 4:00 PM–8:00 PM).
b, Other paid parking spaces will have a fee of 4 dirham/hour during the same periods.
Outside of peak periods, meaning 10:00 AM–4:00 PM and 8:00 PM–10:00 PM, the fees will remain unchanged. Overnight (10:00 PM–8:00 AM) and on Sundays, parking will be free, offering some relief to residents.
Dubai Parking Zone System
Dubai's parking system is categorized into three main types:
1. Commercial areas (e.g., business districts)
2. Non-commercial areas (residential zones)
3. Special zones (areas under special regulation)
In total, there are 11 zones, labeled from A to K. Each zone has its own parking rules and fees, so it is advisable to check ahead, especially if parking in a new area.
Why Is It Important to Pay Attention to These Changes?
a, Increased costs: Parking has become significantly more expensive than previous rates, particularly for longer durations.
b, Extended paid period: Payment is required in evening hours, impacting those who use these areas after work.
c, Taking advantage of free periods: Free parking overnight and on Sundays provides an opportunity to reduce costs.
Final Thoughts
The new parking fees and rules aim to make Dubai's parking system more efficient and encourage continuous flow in public parking areas. It's essential to stay updated with these changes to avoid unexpected costs and penalties.
