Dubai Unveils New Parking Solutions

Dubai: Monthly Parking Passes for Students and Teachers - Savings Within 500 Meters
Dubai's transportation system is increasingly shifting towards targeted and flexible services, as evidenced by a recent announcement from Parkin Company PJSC. The city's largest paid public parking provider has introduced a new monthly parking pass for students, teachers, and users of multi-story car parks, offering significant savings amidst constantly changing pricing structures.
A Targeted Solution for Students and Educators
The monthly parking pass starts at just 100 dirhams per month and is specifically designed for students and private institution staff who regularly commute by car around schools, colleges, or universities. The pass allows use of roadside and open area parking spaces in zones A, B, C, and D, up to 500 meters from the educational institution.
This solution is particularly useful now, as Dubai has introduced dynamic parking fee regulations since this April, significantly increasing charges in high-traffic premium zones during peak hours.
Multi-Storey Parking Also Available by Subscription
Parkin offers not only discounts in educational environments but also monthly passes for multi-storey parking starting at 735 dirhams. This is ideal for those who want convenient parking near their home, workplace, or frequently visited locations.
Why is the Change Important?
Due to dynamic pricing, many motorists have complained about the increased parking costs in recent months. For example, in a premium zone in the Al Barsha area (code 373CP), where the hourly fee was previously 2 dirhams, it has now risen to 6 dirhams during peak hours. A four-hour parking session has increased from 11 dirhams to 24 dirhams. This price rise applies six days a week for six hours a day (8-10 am and 4-8 pm), except on Sundays and official holidays.
Premium parking zones are located in densely populated areas with significant car traffic and are often found near public transport hubs. They are marked with special signs and tariff boards.
Parkin's Increasing Revenue
In the first quarter of 2025, Parkin recorded revenues of 273.3 million dirhams, marking a 27 percent growth compared to the same period last year—even before the dynamic pricing system was introduced. Data for the second quarter is not yet available, but the company previously indicated that the introduction of variable fees and the expansion of the parking network is expected to further increase revenues.
Earlier this month, Parkin signed a cooperation agreement with the Dubai municipality to operate parking facilities in public parks as well, thereby further increasing their presence in the city's parking infrastructure.
Summary
Parkin's new monthly subscriptions provide an effective solution for students and educators to avoid increased fees in premium zones, making everyday commuting more predictable. At the same time, the discounted access to multi-storey parking benefits the wider population. In a dynamic pricing environment, subscription systems are becoming increasingly important, offering a cost-effective and convenient solution for city commuters.
