Dubai Unveils AI-Driven Visa Renewal Platform
The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai (GDRFA) has launched a new digital platform powered by artificial intelligence (AI) that revolutionizes the visa renewal process. Thanks to the Salama platform, residents can now renew their visas in minutes and download the updated document directly, eliminating paperwork and long wait times. This new system not only saves time but also significantly improves the user experience.
How does the Salama platform work?
Using the Salama platform is extremely simple and fast. Once the user logs in, the artificial intelligence automatically recognizes their data, displays the visa status of family members, and indicates how many days are left until expiration. The user can then select the visa's validity period, and the system processes the request immediately. The updated document can then be downloaded right away, eliminating the need to visit official institutions or go through lengthy administrative processes.
The platform is particularly useful for renewing family visas, where the process could previously take from one to three hours, depending on whether all documents were complete. The Head of the Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Department highlighted that thanks to the new system, this time has been reduced to one or two minutes, provided all necessary documents are available.
For residents only – for now
The new service currently applies only to visa renewals for residents living in Dubai. It was stated that the first phase focused on resident visa renewals and cancellations, but there are plans to expand services in the future. In the second phase, there will be opportunities for tourists, visitors, and other GDRFA services to be accessed through the platform.
Regarding corporate visa renewal processes, it was also mentioned that the service will soon be available for businesses as well. In the future, opportunities will expand with the use of the GDRFA DXP application and smart channels, all in the spirit of following artificial intelligence and technological advancements.
