Dubai Traffic Reroute: Key Junction Alert

Traffic Diversion at Key Dubai Junction from July 13
Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has issued a warning regarding a temporary change in the traffic pattern, which will come into effect on Sunday, July 13, 2025. The change affects King Salman Street, particularly the section where the road intersects with the main traffic branch leading to Dubai Harbour. The diversion is necessary due to the construction of new bridges leading to Dubai Harbour, which is currently underway.
What Changes Will Be Implemented?
According to the RTA's announcement, the following traffic directions will be temporarily discontinued:
Drivers coming from the Marina will no longer be able to proceed straight through King Salman Street towards Jumeirah or Dubai Harbour.
Left turns at this intersection will also be prohibited.
Instead, drivers will be redirected to the following alternative route:
Al Marsa Street, followed by
Al Khayay Street, then
Al Naseem Street, and finally back to King Salman Street, from where it will be accessible towards Jumeirah and Dubai Harbour.
What Should Drivers Be Aware Of?
The RTA advises all commuters to:
Plan their routes in advance,
Follow posted signs, and
Expect longer travel times, especially during morning and evening peak hours.
The authority emphasized that increased caution is required during the diversion period due to heightened construction activity in the area. The new traffic arrangement is temporary and will remain in effect until the completion of the work.
Why Is This Project Important?
The Dubai Harbour neighborhood has become one of the most dynamically developing areas in recent years, especially due to luxury residential projects, hotels, and marinas. The aim of building new bridges and junctions is to alleviate long-term traffic congestion in the area, particularly around the Marina and Palm Jumeirah.
Summary
While the temporary traffic diversion may cause inconvenience during the affected period, it is an essential part of an infrastructural development that will ensure smoother and safer traffic in the long run. All commuters are asked to cooperate with authorities, adhere to the rules, and monitor the RTA’s official announcements for the exact timing of the diversion lifting.
