Dubai Police's Global Law Enforcement Impact

Dubai and International Law Enforcement: More Suspects Extradited Based on Interpol Warrant
The Dubai Police continue to play a significant role in international law enforcement cooperation, and once again in 2025, they executed several high-profile extradition cases. In the latest operation, two internationally wanted individuals were handed over to French authorities, suspected of various serious crimes, including attempted fraud and drug trafficking, as per Interpol and Europol's wanted lists.
Legal Basis and Execution of Extraditions
The operation was based on international arrest warrants received by the International Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Justice of the United Arab Emirates. This department acts as the central authority in processing international requests that are based on Interpol's red notices.
The recent extradition increased the number of individuals handed over by the Dubai Police to France in 2025 to ten. The individuals involved are typically associated with various organized crime activities, ranging from money laundering to armed robberies and premeditated murder.
Highlighted Cases Earlier in 2025
One of the year’s most talked-about cases occurred in February when authorities announced the extradition of a suspect wanted for drug trafficking and money laundering to France. The federal supreme court approved the request, and the individual was returned to stand trial.
In July, three Belgian citizens were also extradited, accused of serious cross-border organized crimes. These cases exemplify that the Dubai Police actively contribute to crime reduction not only locally but also globally.
In June, France initiated proceedings against a former Interpol committee member, a Moldovan citizen, who was captured in Dubai and extradited on charges of corruption, fraud, and bribery.
In May, a suspected high-ranking member of an Irish crime organization was extradited to Dublin. The man, who had lived in Dubai for years, is accused of murder and managing organized crime. This was the first case where the UAE extradited someone to Ireland – and the first arrest of a notorious Kinahan clan member on Dubai soil.
Dubai Police’s International Role
The Dubai Police are increasingly becoming a key player in global law enforcement. Their units equipped with modern technology, active international networks, and quick response capabilities significantly contribute to the UAE being a reliable partner in international law enforcement.
The country’s legal and law enforcement infrastructure allows authorities to handle extradition requests swiftly and legally while cooperating closely with other countries and international organizations.
Conclusion
The actions of the Dubai Police not only serve the safety of the country but also contribute globally to the fight against organized crime. The UAE's strengthened position on the international law enforcement map clearly indicates that anyone seeking refuge in the country after committing crimes is not safe. The practice of extraditions sends a clear message to the international community — Dubai does not tolerate crime, whether by local or global offenders.
