Dubai Pilgrims Embark on Spiritual Journey

Kumbh Mela 2025: Dubai Pilgrims Set Out with Faith and Determination
The Kumbh Mela is one of the world's largest religious events, drawing millions of Hindu devotees to the banks of India's sacred rivers. The 2025 Mahakumbh, taking place from January 13 to March 26 in Prayagraj, holds special significance, as the celestial alignments deem this period the most favorable for spiritual purification.
Despite a recent tragic stampede overshadowing the festival, in which at least 30 people lost their lives and 60 were injured, several members of the Indian community living in Dubai remain committed to participating in this special event.
With Faith and Determination on the Pilgrimage
An Indian man living in Dubai since 1994 remains undeterred by personal challenges or tragic news from joining the millions of devotees at the Kumbh Mela. Kale, who uses crutches to walk, will embark on his journey on January 31 to partake in one of the most significant Hindu rituals, the Shahi Snan or holy bath.
"The news of large crowds, the danger of stampedes, and the long 12-15 kilometer walk, but I am prepared for this journey," he stated, living in Dubai's Karama district. He travels as part of an eight-member team and enjoys the full support of his family.
Physical and Spiritual Challenge
His journey will be quite demanding. He will first fly to Mumbai, where after a lengthy layover, he will continue to Varanasi. Having been unable to secure a direct flight ticket, they will drive as close as possible to Prayagraj and cover the remaining distance with Kale using crutches, as the bumpy terrain makes wheelchair use nearly impossible.
"I won’t be alone – my wife, brother-in-law, and a few close friends will accompany me. This is a goal I want to achieve no matter what. I need everyone's blessings and prayers," he added.
The news of the stampede initially made him reflect, but he ultimately came to a clear decision: "This doesn’t frighten me but makes me more determined." He believes that true strength lies in mental resolve.
Bringing Blessings to Dubai
He undertakes this difficult journey not only to reinforce his faith but also to seek blessings for the UAE, where he has lived and worked for the past three decades.
"India is my birthplace, but the UAE is my home, where I've built my life. I feel that by completing the holy bath, I will bring blessings to Dubai and the entire UAE. I pray for the country's leaders, world peace, and my family's well-being. True progress lies not only in technology but also in tranquility, brotherhood, and mutual respect," he said.
A Unique Spiritual Opportunity
