Dubai Mall Traffic Tips: Changes, Closures & Parking

Temporary Closures at Dubai Mall: Traffic Changes and Parking Tips
Dubai's popular tourist and shopping destination, the Dubai Mall, has entered another phase of its ongoing renovations. The shopping center announced temporary closures for some parking zones and exits due to the current expansion work. This will lead to traffic diversions and new routes for visitors in the coming period.
Which areas are affected?
According to the Dubai Mall announcement, the following areas will be temporarily closed:
Lower Financial Exit ramp
Upper Financial Exit ramp
Grand Drive Valet parking service
These routes will be taken over by Grand Drive and Cinema P3, so visitors who used familiar paths should now pay attention to the newly placed directional signs. Visitors are advised to leave earlier and anticipate longer parking and entry times.
Temporary closure of Grand Parking
The mall announced that the popular Grand Parking zone will be temporarily closed in June, making way for a new, modernized Grand Drive, expected to open in August. This development is part of the Dubai Mall's comprehensive infrastructure development project, aimed at improving the visitor experience in the long term.
The Dubai Fountain is also closed
Not only is road traffic affected: the world-famous Dubai Fountain is temporarily closed for renovations. The attraction, known for its water shows, is expected to be unavailable for five months.
Paid parking: What to know
Since last year, Dubai Mall introduced paid parking in collaboration with the Salik system. This system applies to the following areas:
Grand Parking
Cinema Parking
Fashion Parking
The Zabeel and Fountain Views parking areas remain free of charge. The new system offers barrier-free parking solutions: no gates, with fees applied automatically based on hours spent.
Pricing:
Weekdays: The first 4 hours free
Weekends (Friday–Sunday): The first 6 hours free
Thereafter, parking fees gradually increase, with a maximum daily fee of up to 1,000 dirhams after 24 hours.
What should visitors keep in mind?
Use the placed signs and digital route planning tools.
Arrive earlier to comfortably reach their programs.
Choose alternative parking zones (e.g., Zabeel) if planning to stay longer.
During the summer months, increased traffic and heat are expected, so planning ahead is advisable.
The developments at Dubai Mall may cause temporary inconveniences, but their aim is to provide a more comfortable and efficient experience in the future. Visitors planning to visit during summer are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the parking and traffic changes in advance to enjoy a seamless experience.
