Dubai Eases Property Sales for Elderly

Dubai: New Initiative Simplifies Home Property Transactions
Program Launched for Elderly and Special Needs Residents
Dubai has taken another significant step towards community well-being and social inclusion. Launched in collaboration with the Dubai Land Department (DLD) and the Community Development Authority (CDA), the Barwa initiative allows elderly and special needs individuals to sell or purchase properties from the comfort of their homes and manage their current holdings without the need to personally visit any office.
Complete On-Site Service
Under this program, DLD staff will personally visit the beneficiaries of the initiative to conduct all necessary real estate transactions on-site, whether it be for purchase, sale, or rental. This mobile service provides significant relief to those for whom personal appearance might be challenging. This innovation directly aligns with the 'Together, Hand in Hand' motto, under which the UAE declared 2025 as the Year of Community.
Digital and Personal Support Combined
The Barwa initiative stands on three pillars:
Digital Services: A specially designed accessible platform assures remote service management. The system is augmented with real-time customer service available around the clock through phone calls.
Financial and Real Estate Counseling: Expert teams provide users with personalized recommendations to achieve investment opportunities and long-term yields.
Direct Assistance: Each concerned individual is assigned a personal advisor who tracks transactions and provides complete support throughout the process.
Free Service with Special Discounts
In its current phase, the service is available to UAE citizens. The initiative is completely free of charge, but preferential conditions will also be ensured in the future. According to official statements, the aim is to expand the program to other nationalities as well.
Close Institutional Collaboration
The program's operation is supported by the 'Registry of Honoured Citizens,' facilitating smooth data sharing between the DLD and CDA. Additionally, four real estate agencies - Harbour Real Estate, On Plan Real Estate, Al Ruwad Real Estate, and SBK Real Estate - have joined the initiative, along with the Afnan and Al Tabou service centers contributing to customer service.
Summary
The Barwa program is more than just a new service; it's part of a social paradigm shift making real estate matters accessible and human-centric for everyone. Elderly and special needs residents can thus live more dignified, independent, and secure lives by managing their real estate affairs from their homes in Dubai.
