Dubai Chocolate Declared Safe for Consumers

Dubai's Chocolate Products Safe: No Salmonella Contamination on UAE Market
Recently, concerns were raised by a U.S. alert about a potential salmonella contamination in a chocolate cream marketed under the name "Dubai chocolate." The news quickly reached the United Arab Emirates, where authorities swiftly responded to prevent any misunderstandings.
Ministry's Position: Products Sold in UAE are Safe
The UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment emphasized in a statement that "Dubai chocolate" products sold on the United Arab Emirates market are not affected by the salmonella warning. According to the ministry, the product in question — Spread Pistachio CaCao Cream With Kadayef — is associated with a brand not manufactured in the UAE and is not available on the Emirates market.
The product was sold in the United States, where the World Market chain initiated a voluntary recall following an FDA (Food and Drug Administration) warning. The American authority classified the contamination risk under the most severe category, "Class I."
Misleading Naming
The confusion arose because the brand Emek marketed the product in a way that referred to the "Dubai chocolate" flavor. However, this designation is widely recognized in the UAE as referring to a specific premium chocolate brand produced locally, known to consumers and considered safe.
The ministry specifically highlighted that original "Dubai chocolate" products — such as those sold under the FIX Dessert Chocolatier brand name — are renowned for their Middle Eastern-inspired unique flavors and comply with the strictest food safety regulations.
Continuous Monitoring and Consumer Protection
Authorities confirmed their ongoing commitment to heightened food safety vigilance. The ministry collaborates with all relevant bodies to ensure only healthy, checked, and safe products reach the Emirates market.
This case underlines the importance of precise product naming and clear indication of the place of origin. Consumers can feel reassured that "Dubai chocolate" products available in the UAE remain safe for consumption.
