Dubai Announces 2025-2026 School Year Schedule

Dubai School Calendar for 2025-2026: Official Holiday List Announced
The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has released the official calendar for the new academic year for private schools operating in Dubai. The updated schedule for the 2025-2026 academic year is specifically for schools that start the educational year in August. The calendar aims to facilitate planning for teachers, parents, and school leaders while ensuring an adequate number of school days for student development.
Main Dates of the School Year
The next academic year starts on August 25, 2025, after approximately a two-month summer break. This date applies to all private schools that follow national or international curricula and commence teaching in August.
The winter break begins on December 15 and, after three weeks, students will return to classes on January 5, 2026. This extended break offers families an opportunity for travel or relaxation during the holiday season.
The spring break begins on March 23, 2026. Most schools resume teaching on April 6, but institutions following the Ministry of Education (MoE) curriculum will return a week later, on April 13.
Conclusion of the School Year
The closing dates depend on the curriculum followed by the schools:
For those following the international curriculum, teaching must continue at least until June 26, 2026.
Schools applying the Indian curriculum, which start the year in April, will conclude the academic year by March 31, 2026.
Minimum of 182 School Days
According to KHDA requirements, the academic year must consist of a minimum of 182 school days. This measure ensures that students receive adequate learning time and that the quality of education remains consistent across all institutions. The authority emphasized that the school calendar is intended not only for coordinating holidays and breaks but also to aid long-term planning, especially for educators and families.
Additional Considerations
The new schedule takes into account Islamic holidays, national celebrations, and seasonal factors affecting educational efficiency. The KHDA stressed that all private institutions are required to adhere to the new dates, and special permission is needed for any deviations.
