Cool Weather Brings Relief to UAE

Cooler Days Ahead in UAE: A Welcomed Relief
As November ushered in, residents of the United Arab Emirates can finally breathe a sigh of relief: after the scorching heat that characterized the past months, a much milder, more pleasant period begins. According to the forecast of the country's meteorological authority, the NCM (National Center of Meteorology), temperatures may continue to drop this week, potentially falling to as low as 17°C in some areas, particularly in the interior and mountainous regions.
Mornings and Evenings Take a New Turn
According to one meteorologist from NCM, daytime warmth will still be present, but it will be noticeably cooler in the mornings and evenings. The biggest change, therefore, will come from the nighttime temperatures rather than daytime ones: in the interior and higher-altitude areas, minimum temperatures may range between 17–20°C, with even lower values possible.
For many, this mild cooling signifies the start of their favorite season. Early morning coffee on the terrace, afternoon park walks, or evening beach sunsets can once again be part of daily life without being disturbed by the extreme heat.
Wind Direction and Weather Instability
The current relief is primarily due to winds blowing from the northwest, bringing cooler air to most of the country. However, low-pressure atmospheric systems may also arrive from the south and southeast over the next few days, which could slightly raise daytime temperatures, even reaching 37–38°C.
This does not mean a return to summer heat, though. The air will cool again by evening, with daytime heat being short-lived. Weather fluctuations are a typical feature of the UAE's autumn period, so differences in temperature between different times of the day may be noticeable.
The Long-Awaited Rain
Another expected phenomenon of the autumn-winter period is rain. Meteorologists predict a chance for light or moderate rainfall starting from midweek, especially in the country's western areas, such as the Al Dhafra and Al Ain regions. The increase in cloudiness and humidity could facilitate the first seasonal showers, refreshing both urban green spaces and desert landscapes.
Weather in Dubai and Abu Dhabi
The two largest cities, Dubai and Abu Dhabi, are also part of this transitional period. In the coming days, daytime peak temperatures could range between 33–35°C, while nighttime temperatures may drop to as low as 22–24°C. This gradual cooling is expected to continue throughout the month until the official winter solstice on December 22.
The Best Season of the Year, According to Many
It's no wonder that many UAE residents consider this the most enjoyable period. After months of often 40°C plus heat, there is finally an opportunity for outdoor activities, family outings, and social events. Desert camping, beach evenings, weekend barbecues, and longer walks are reappearing in everyday life.
The footfall at parks, beaches, and hiking spots has already begun to increase, and many families have planned their weekend activities in advance. Those who can often go hiking in the Hajar Mountains or organize picnics near one of the oases. Nighttime temperatures are ideal for camping, and the clear sky is perfect for stargazing.
Nature Revives Too
Along with the temperature drop, nature also changes. In the desert landscape, a new life begins: tiny plants emerge from the sand, and wildlife becomes more active. In the cities, trees, shrubs, and flower beds receive fresh air, and the maintenance of public areas shows more spectacular results than during the summer months.
Preparing Sensibly for the New Season
While the weather has become significantly more pleasant, it is worth preparing for the changeable conditions. Mornings and evenings are already cooler, so it is advisable to keep a light jacket or sweater handy, especially if you're heading for an outdoor program. It is particularly important for children and the elderly to dress in layers, as temperatures can change quickly.
Drivers are also encouraged to be mindful of foggy mornings and potential rain, which can make roads slippery. Although the chance of sandstorms in desert areas is lower, it cannot be completely ruled out due to changing wind directions.
Before the Official Start of Winter
Although winter officially begins on December 22, many people in the United Arab Emirates are already experiencing the "winter mood." This period offers special opportunities for both residents and visitors. Those planning a trip to Dubai or Abu Dhabi now can discover a side of the UAE where nature, urban life, and culture harmoniously meet in a cool, yet sunny environment.
This season promises not only more pleasant weather but also a sort of renewal: when you can finally step out the door without the threat of heatstroke, when community spaces come alive again, and when the desert invites you to explore its quiet beauty.
