Al Layan Oasis: Dubai's New Desert Oasis with Outdoor Cinema and Camping

Dubai's tourism offerings have reached another milestone with the announcement of the Al Layan Oasis, a new attraction that stands out not only for its size but also for its concept. The project covers an area of 10 million square feet and offers a completely new desert experience—from outdoor cinema to sports trails and camping.

An Oasis in the Spirit of Modern Desert Tourism

The Al Layan Oasis is centered around a 2.5 million-square-foot artificial lake, transforming the desert into a tranquil and natural green space. The location is approximately a 50-minute drive from downtown Dubai and will become an important stop on the city's caravan route.

The attraction aims to welcome about 330,000 visitors annually, with 1,000 parking spaces and 14 kilometers of pedestrian and cycling paths available. Of these, four kilometers are elevated walkways, five meters high, offering stunning views of the entire oasis. The walkways are also connected to the existing Al Marmoom route network.

Four Thematic Zones – Four Types of Experiences

Al Layan Oasis is divided into four main sections: Hub Park, Family Park, Canyon Park, and Trailer Park. Within these, four additional oasis zones cater to different target groups:

Camping Oasis: Here, 100 caravan camping spots are available for those who wish to spend the night in the desert. A fully equipped visitor center is also available.

Gathering Oasis: This communal zone includes an outdoor cinema, amphitheater, theater, and food truck area to serve guests seeking social experiences.

Family Oasis: Provides 28 different resting spots, playgrounds, and integrated services for families looking for child-friendly activities.

Recreation Oasis: Offers leisure enthusiasts opportunities with retail units, services, and active programs, all in a sustainable natural environment.

Focus on Sustainability and Quality of Life

The project is part of the Dubai Blue and Green Roadmap, with a total investment of 4 billion dirhams. The goal is not merely to create a new tourist attraction but to continue Dubai's environmentally friendly and people-focused urban development strategy.

Special attention is given to expanding local vegetation, creating shaded areas, and adapting to existing ecological systems. Thus, the oasis will not only be spectacular but also an eco-conscious destination.

Dubai's leadership emphasized that the focus of urban development remains on people. The aim is to create an environment that is both sustainable and livable, yet appealing to both locals and tourists.

Private Investors are Also Given an Opportunity

Dubai Municipality provides an area of approximately 365,000 square meters for private sector investors, allowing them to join the Al Layan Oasis offerings with their own services, hospitality units, or attractions.

This not only leads to new tourism experiences but also creates jobs while serving the city's economic diversification. The model fits well with Dubai's long-term strategy, which relies on developments based on public-private partnerships.
