Abu Dhabi Unveils Major Housing Support Initiative

Abu Dhabi Takes Major Step, Sanctioning Housing Support Package Worth Over 4 Billion Dirhams
Abu Dhabi took another step towards supporting the welfare and stability of its citizens by approving a housing support package worth 4.62 billion dirhams on June 5, 2025, just before the Eid Al Adha celebration. The measure affects more than three thousand citizens and aims to strengthen the social and economic security of families living in the Emirates.
Housing Loans and Debt Forgiveness
The largest part of the package, totaling 4.4 billion dirhams, consists of housing loans, benefiting 2,862 citizens. These loans are primarily meant for building new homes, renovating existing ones, or purchasing residential properties. The initiative aims to facilitate young families in acquiring their own homes and promote long-term social stability.
Additionally, 190 citizens, including retirees and heirs of deceased individuals, will receive complete exemption from repaying their housing loans. This concession absolves debts amounting to 212 million dirhams and provides significant relief to the affected families, especially during the holiday season.
Second Support Round in 2025
This recent package is the second housing support distributed in 2025, bringing the total amount of approved subsidies during the year to 11.38 billion dirhams. This clearly indicates the long-term commitment of the leadership of Abu Dhabi to improving the living standards of its citizens.
The decision was made in accordance with the guidance of the UAE president, who is also the ruler of Abu Dhabi, and was approved by the appointed heir. The goal is not only to alleviate housing challenges but also to encourage the active participation of citizens in the nation's development.
Supplementary Support
It was also recently announced that citizens with existing housing loans may be eligible for a 250,000 dirham community support grant. This may result in a reduction of up to 50% in monthly installments, along with additional services aimed at improving quality of life and easing financial burdens.
Summary
Abu Dhabi's latest housing program not only provides substantial financial support to those affected but also sends a clear message: the Emirate is committed to ensuring social cohesion, economic stability, and securing the future of families. Housing remains a top priority, especially during important holidays like Eid Al Adha, when strengthening community bonds plays an even more crucial role.
