UAE, India, Sri Lanka Unveil Energy Hub

UAE, India, and Sri Lanka are elevating their cooperation with the announcement of a new, strategically significant energy partnership. The governments of the three countries signed a trilateral memorandum of understanding (MoU), aiming to transform Trincomalee, Sri Lanka, into a key energy and logistics hub. This collaboration not only reinforces Sri Lanka's energy security but can also significantly impact the economic and infrastructural future of the entire South Asian region.

The newly signed agreement provides a clear framework for cooperation among the participating countries in important developments such as: upgrading and developing the Trincomalee Tank Farm (oil storage complex), exploring and preparing for a new refinery project, supporting bunker fuel supply initiatives, constructing a bidirectional oil pipeline between India and Sri Lanka.

Three national companies – AD Ports (UAE), IOCL (India), and CPC (Sri Lanka) – designated for the project's implementation will jointly create a joint venture responsible for execution and operations. This joint company will oversee the infrastructural investments and long-term operations.
