UAE Heatwave Alert: 50°C and Rains Loom

UAE Weather Alert: Temperatures May Hit 50°C on July 28, Rains Expected
According to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), residents of the United Arab Emirates can expect hot and variable weather conditions on Monday, July 28. In certain regions, celestial phenomena will be spectacular, while in other areas, the mercury will soar to extreme heights.
Rain and Dust Storms Expected
The forecast predicts that convective clouds are likely to develop moving towards the east and south, potentially accompanied by showers. This type of cloud formation often occurs quickly near mountainous regions, resulting in short but intense rainfalls. Overall, the weather will remain sunny or partly cloudy, but visibility may decrease locally in the afternoon due to blowing dust.
Winds will be mild to moderate, predominantly from the southeast and northeast direction, occasionally strengthening during the day. Wind speeds could reach up to 40 km/h, which might be sufficient to cause dust storms in drier areas, notably in open desert regions.
Extreme Heat Anticipated
Significant temperature fluctuations will occur across different parts of the country. The lowest temperatures are expected in the Jabal Jais area, where they might drop to 28°C during nighttime. In contrast, the daytime maximum in the Abu Dhabi Al Dhafra region, around Mukhariz, could soar to a staggering 50°C.
Such temperatures are not only uncomfortable but could pose health risks, especially for those spending extended periods outdoors. During such heat, it is crucial to stay well-hydrated, wear appropriate clothing, and avoid sun exposure, particularly between 12:00 and 16:00.
Marine Conditions
Favorable conditions are expected over the waters of the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea. The sea will be slightly choppy, which is good news for fishermen, seafarers, and those planning marine excursions. Nonetheless, it is advisable to monitor coastal wind conditions as stronger winds in the afternoon may cause local surface disturbances.
What Can We Do Against the Heat?
Authorities continuously advise the public regarding the impacts of extreme weather conditions. It is recommended to adhere to the following precautionary measures:
Drink plenty of fluids, even if you do not feel thirsty
Avoid direct sunlight during midday hours
Wear light-colored, lightweight clothing and a hat or head cover
Do not leave children or pets in sealed vehicles
Stay informed about the current weather through official channels
The UAE's weather conditions in summer always present a serious challenge. On July 28, however, it is not just the heat but also the showers and winds that require extra attention. Caution and preparedness are key to maintaining safety and comfort.
