RTA Unveils New Al Jamayel Street Upgrades
Dubai's ever-evolving transportation network has reached another milestone as the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced the successful completion of the Al Jamayel Street development project. Once known as Garn Al Sabkha, the road is now modernized and expanded to provide more efficient transportation connections for the city's residents and visitors. The new 7-kilometer route aids connectivity between Mohammed bin Zayed Road and Sheikh Zayed Road, further strengthening Dubai's district transportation infrastructure.
Four New Bridges and Significant Traffic Capacity
A standout feature of the Al Jamayel Street project is the construction of four new bridges, totaling 2,874 meters in length. These bridges provide a significant functional and visual enhancement: their total capacity is 17,600 vehicles per hour, enabling smooth traffic flow and significantly reducing the chance of congestion.
The bridges not only increase throughput but also connect to key transportation hubs, enhancing urban mobility. The RTA aims to provide the residents of Dubai with faster and more convenient routes that save time and energy.
Road Developments and Intersection Upgrades
In addition to the newly developed route spanning over seven kilometers, the RTA has also focused on upgrading existing transportation links. Intersections along the service roads of Mohammed bin Zayed Road have been modernized to ensure even more efficient and safer transit. These upgrades are crucial as intersections are often hotspots for traffic congestion and accidents.
The project's goal was to improve access from downtown Dubai and strengthen connectivity with outer city districts, especially on the busy stretch between Mohammed bin Zayed Road and Sheikh Zayed Road.
Impact of the Al Jamayel Street Project on Dubai's Transportation
The Al Jamayel Street development project signifies not just an enhancement of transportation infrastructure, but also a long-term transformation of the city's transportation network. As a result of the project, residents and visitors in the city might experience significantly reduced travel times, particularly during peak hours when traffic is heaviest. The RTA's initiatives also aim to increase urban transportation safety, ensuring that travelers reach their destinations more securely.
RTA's Future Plans
The development of Al Jamayel Street is just a segment of the RTA's comprehensive city development plan, which includes further transportation projects in the pipeline. Dubai's leadership prioritizes infrastructure modernization, reducing travel time, and enhancing transportation safety to meet the demands of the city's rapidly growing population and visitors.
