Emirates Revolutionizes Recruitment with AI

Emirates Group: AI Practically Nullifies Hiring Time in Dubai
Using artificial intelligence (AI), Emirates Group has revolutionized its recruitment process, reducing the selection process, which previously took up to 60 days, to almost zero. The new system not only saves time but also significant costs—saving over 1.9 million dirhams and replacing more than 1,100 recruitment workdays.
Automated Recruitment: Fast, Transparent, and Targeted
The company uses AI-based software called HireVue, which automatically analyzes applicants from the moment a submission is received, sorting them into three categories:
1. Successful candidates,
2. Those awaiting further validation,
3. Rejected candidates.
The biggest advantage of automation is that the digital assessment begins immediately after the application is submitted, eliminating the need for manual screening. The system is not only fast but also objective—yet the company maintains human oversight to filter out potential biases or inappropriate rejections. From the validation and rejected lists, candidates can still be chosen to move forward.
Preparing for Peak Season: The Role of the Talent Database
Emirates Group plans ahead for seasonal staffing needs. For example, in June, at the start of the peak travel season, they select additional check-in staff from pre-screened candidates, avoiding lengthy recruitment processes. Outstanding candidates are stored in a talent database, where they can be reactivated whenever a position opens.
Impressive Numbers – Concrete Results
Since the system's introduction:
333,851 applications have been processed with AI,
over 26,000 applicants have been selected after pre-screening,
2,500 candidates received offers,
a 65% employment offer acceptance rate.
It was also revealed that roles with almost identical requirements (such as airport operator, call center operator, Marhaba agent, and Dnata customer service personnel) were previously handled separately. Duplicate applications and parallel recruitments consumed a lot of time and energy. The four similar positions have now been merged into a single generic job posting, greatly improving the quality of applications and simplifying the process.
Optimization of Recruitment Capacity
As a result of the modernized system, 4 out of 6 recruiters can now focus on other value-adding activities, as 8,849 work-hours of resources have been freed through automation.
Summary
The example of the Dubai-based Emirates Group clearly shows that artificial intelligence can bring not only efficiency but also transparency and quality to HR processes. The perfect balance of foresight planning, AI-based screening, and human control has created a system that adapts to future challenges while resulting in significant cost and time savings for the company. This model could be inspiring for other companies, especially those working with mass recruitment or seasonality.
