Dubai Launches Comprehensive Social Survey
Dubai authorities are conducting a new social survey aimed at revealing the living conditions of Emirati households, resident families, community households, and labor accommodations. This comprehensive initiative aims to create a "solid database" that accurately reflects the social situation of the emirate and guides the development of strategies, programs, and policies.
Why is the survey necessary?
Dubai's rapidly developing and dynamic urban environment presents significant challenges in terms of social equality, improving quality of life, and community solidarity. The new social survey enables the emirate's authorities to gain deeper insights into the living conditions of various social strata, including:
a) Emirati households: The well-being and social integration of citizens are of primary importance in the emirate's policy.
b) Resident families: Foreign nationals who reside long-term in Dubai play a key role in economic and social development.
c) Community households: Groups of different nationalities living together provide unique insights into cultural diversity and the dynamics of community life.
d) Labor accommodations: The living conditions of guest workers require special attention as they form a significant part of the workforce.
Conducting the Survey
The survey is being jointly conducted by the Community Development Authority (CDA) and the Dubai Data and Statistics Establishment, through personal interviews and site visits. During the process, 5,100 families across various areas of Dubai are reached. The aim of the questionnaire is to collect comprehensive and accurate data on the social and economic status of households, which later serve as a guideline for policymakers.
The duration of the survey:
The data collection takes place from December 17, 2024, to March 4, 2025.
How will the survey impact Dubai's future?
The collected data will provide the foundation for numerous initiatives:
1. Development of social programs: Targeted support for vulnerable groups and better distribution of community resources.
2. Improving housing conditions: The results could foreground the development of housing conditions for Emirati households and labor accommodations.
3. Creating economic balance: Understanding the needs of different social groups more precisely can lead to more effective economic policy decisions.
4. Strengthening social cohesion: Programs based on the data can help improve collaboration among residents of different nationalities and backgrounds.
The Importance of Community Perspectives
As a global city, Dubai has always placed a strong emphasis on supporting communities of different nationalities. This survey is another step towards ensuring that all residents of the emirate—both citizens and residents alike—enjoy a higher level of well-being and social security.
How can families participate?
The designated 5,100 family members will receive a personal invitation detailing the time and location of the interview. Participation in data collection is voluntary but extremely important for the success of the survey.
The results of the social survey are expected to be available in the second quarter of 2025 and can fundamentally determine the direction of Dubai's social policy for the next decade.
